EA gives you an early decision without a binding commitment. Same or slightly better odds than RD.
UF prizes strong academic rigor and clear fit with its high-demand, practically oriented programs, especially for engineering, agriculture, journalism, and business. Applicants who thrive are academically consistent high performers with coursework showing STEM or communication depth when applying to those majors, demonstrated leadership in relevant extracurriculars, and tangible local or Florida ties that align with public-mission priorities. Compared with peer publics, UF is moderately test-optional but still places weight on academic context and major-specific preparation rather than diffuse "hook" narratives.
For UF's why-us/supplement, name specific professors, labs, centers, or experiential programs that connect to your intended major, for example the Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering research groups, the College of Journalism and Communications internships with local media, or IFAS extension projects in agriculture. Tie one concrete UF resource to a short plan for what you will do there, include any Florida or regional connection if applicable, and keep the tone pragmatic and program-focused rather than broadly idealistic.
