ED rate (30.0%) is materially higher than RD (7.0%). If Tufts is your top choice and you can commit financially, this is the highest-leverage round.
Tufts favors intellectually curious students who pair strong academic preparation with clear, specific interests, especially in international relations, biomedical research, and civic engagement. They value demonstrated initiative in leadership or research over resume breadth, want evidence of sustained engagement (ongoing projects, internships, lab work, Model UN, community service) and prize intellectual vitality and collaboration; they are slightly more forgiving of nontraditional trajectories or creative majors than hyper-competitive STEM peers but expect close alignment between interests and campus resources.
For the Tufts supplements, tie your interests to exact programs, faculty, or institutes, for example the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic Life, the Tufts Institute for the Environment, the MISTI global internships, or specific IR/biomed faculty labs, and explain exactly how you would use them in a 2-3 sentence snapshot. Use one brief concrete anecdote or project to show fit and operationalize how you will contribute to Tufts classrooms and research, rather than generic praise of location or community.
