Strong signals are demonstrated interest in business, ag/vet, or supply-chain management through coursework, internships, FFA/FBLA/DECA, or county/state competitions, and applicants with practical leadership (club officer, entrepreneurship, hands-on research) stand out more than abstract extracurriculars. They are looser on raw test scores and GPA compared with private peers, but stricter about readiness for STEM-heavy or professional tracks (pre-vet, engineering, Eli Broad) so target the mid-50% ranges and show concrete preparation for your intended major.
For the "Why Michigan State" or program-specific prompts name specific resources and show fit: reference the Broad College programs, the SCMT supply chain labs and corporate partnerships, the Veterinary Medicine Clinical Center, or MSU Ag Research Stations, and tie them to a specific project or career goal you will pursue there. Mention MSU's campus-scale opportunities, like COM ώρα/community outreach, study-abroad in Lombardo programs, or Spartan student organizations, and explain exactly how one or two MSU facilities or faculty will advance your planned major or internship path.
