They're looser on the "perfect transcript" than peer Ivies if you show sustained strength in your intended major and tighter on demonstrated major-specific passion than schools that prize well-roundedness.
Use Cornell's college-specific prompts (which vary by school) to show you understand the distinct culture and opportunities within your chosen college — generic "I love engineering" won't land, but "I'm drawn to Cornell Engineering's food science program specifically because of [named professor/research area] and the co-op opportunities with industry labs" will. Research actual clubs, professors, and programs within *your* college, not just Cornell's name, and connect them to concrete prior projects or curiosities you've already demonstrated in your application.
